3D PRODUCTION · LUXEMBOURG

Custom 3D printing

Have a part, object or prototype made from an existing 3D file. PowerPrint assesses every request, from one-offs to small runs, and produces it in its Luxembourg workshop. The model version, required dimensions, intended use, quantity and areas to preserve are examined before quoting. If you are starting with only an idea, sketch, photograph or object, your request first falls under 3D prototyping and design.

DO YOU ALREADY HAVE YOUR 3D FILE?

State the model version, required final dimensions, quantity, intended use, priority faces, contact or assembly areas, expected appearance and preferred date. Add the available 3D file and, if necessary, an annotated view of the part in context.

Request a quote for my 3D file

Production begins only after feasibility has been checked and the project approved.

NO 3D FILE YET?

ARE YOU STARTING WITH AN IDEA, SKETCH OR OBJECT?

This page covers production from an existing digital model. If the file still needs to be created, describe the function, known dimensions and project constraints: the request must first be scoped through the 3D prototyping and design service.

I do not have a 3D file yet

Creating or correcting the model is a separate stage from production.

A 3D FILE TO CHECK BEFORE PRODUCTION

The model supplied must be the exact version you want quoted. Wall thickness, fine details, openings, contact surfaces, mating features, any fixings and neighbouring elements may affect preparation of the part. State which faces must take priority and any orientation imposed by its intended use.

The workshop examines the geometry and information supplied to determine whether the file can be prepared for production. If the model needs correcting or a design stage is required, this will be identified and scoped separately before production; it is not automatically included in the production service.

LAYERS, SUPPORTS AND FINISH ARE PART OF THE APPEARANCE

Layer-by-layer production can leave visible lines on the surface. Some geometries require temporary supports; removing them can leave marks or require local finishing. The part's orientation affects where these marks appear and the presentation of its different faces.

State the most visible surfaces and the expected appearance. The level of finish actually offered is confirmed after assessment; a perfectly smooth surface or a result identical to the model display is not assumed. For a part integrated into an assembly, identify the contact, fixing or assembly areas. The described use helps assess the project's consistency but does not, by itself, promise any particular suitability.

Everything you need to know

A digital model must also work in the real world

A production-ready file is more than a shape displayed on a screen. Wall thickness, very fine details, openings, contact areas and any assemblies all affect how the part can be made. Surfaces that need to remain visible or clean should also be identified from the outset.

Distinguishing production from design

This service covers production from an existing digital model. If your starting point is an idea, sketch, photograph or object to be adapted, the 3D prototyping and design service is more suitable. This distinction directs your request to the right level of support without confusing production with creation of the model.

Considering the part in context

A part intended to fit into an assembly must be considered in its real-world context. Fixing points, openings, adjacent components and the way it will be handled may affect the preparation choices. When a project has several components, a simple diagram or overview helps clarify how they relate to one another.

Clearly identifying each version

For subsequent reproduction or a small run, keep a clearly identified version of the approved model. Every change, however minor, should be assigned a new version to avoid ambiguity between the file assessed and the part expected.

Your questions — Custom 3D printing

Can I have a one-off part or small run produced?

Yes. A one-off part or small run can be assessed from an existing 3D file. State the quantity of each part and whether every item must match exactly the same version of the model.

Do I need an existing 3D file to use this page?

Yes. This page is for producing an already defined digital model. If you are starting with an idea, sketch, photograph, dimensions or an object and do not have a usable file, your request first falls under the 3D prototyping and design service.

What information should I send with the 3D file?

Send the exact version of the file to be assessed, the required final dimensions, quantity, intended use, priority faces, contact or assembly areas, known constraints and preferred date. An annotated view or diagram showing the context may help. Compatibility of the available file format is checked after receipt. You must hold the necessary rights to the file, model and references supplied.

What happens if my 3D file cannot be produced as supplied?

The file is examined before production. If its geometry requires clarification, correction or a design stage, the workshop will identify the elements involved. Any work on the model must be defined and approved separately before production can begin.

Will layer lines and support marks be visible?

Layer lines may remain visible. Depending on the geometry and orientation, temporary supports may also be required, and removing them can leave marks. State which faces should take priority and the appearance required; the possible appearance and level of finish are specified after assessment, with no promise of a perfectly smooth surface.

How is the part's intended use considered?

Describe its function, how it will be handled, load-bearing points, contact areas, assemblies and any known constraints. This information allows the file's consistency with the project to be examined and identifies points requiring approval. On its own, it does not guarantee suitability for a particular use.

What lead time should I allow for 3D production?

The usual lead time is 10 to 14 days after project approval and receipt of a usable file and all required materials. A 24 h or 72 h express option can be considered only subject to feasibility, the part, quantity, file preparation and required finish.

How do I choose the material or colour for the part?

Describe the intended use, expected conditions, required appearance and known constraints. After assessment, the workshop will specify which material and colour options are actually available for the project. This page does not confirm any mechanical or thermal suitability, compatibility with outdoor, food, medical or safety applications, or any certification; any such requirement must be stated before quoting.
